My First Pie Contest

Yesterday was my first time Pie Contest.(KCRW radio pie contest)




When I was arrived, I was asked to cut my pie into 8th and plate 2 slices on to the plates.






there were well known chefs as the judges...

The judging started...

One of the judge is tasting my pie.


After they have taeted pies, the judges narrow down to 5 finalists in each category. I entered my Pecan pie in Fruit and Nut category which was the largest category(It seems like 70% of the pies were in this category) I was SO SURPRISED when they called my number in the top 5 in my category!

At the end, I couldn't get the ribbon home, but I was very happy that my pie made it to top 5 finalist.

I will study more and loved to enter next year!

After the contest, I HAD TO take picture with Stefan RichterStefan since Top chef is one of my favorite show. He nicely agreed to take picture with me.

Blueberry almond coffee cake

Since our friends are coming tonight to visit us from Milwaukee, I thought It might be a good idea to make some coffee cake for the next morning.
I always wanted to try the crumb coffee cake so I finally used Ina Garten's recipe and changed a bit to make this cake.
With Sour cream in it, It is so moist and deli sh! I couldn't help tasting(this is the best part anyway)before they came....
